At Home

Taking photos in your home is a great way to give a personal touch to your images. My favorite place to shoot is outdoors, because of the beautiful backdrop that only nature can give us! However, shooting at home is special, too. When I look back to photos taken at my parents or grandparents home, I can remember the color of the walls (or the 70's wallpaper!). I can remember the feel of the old couch or the fuzzy carpet. I love it when I see an old object, like a book or toy, in the photo that reminds me of what I used to like to do.

Your home doesn't have to be clean and spotless to take photos. You only need nice, natural light and any special things that are important to you. Favorite toys, blankets, beds, pictures, etc. The possibilities are endless!

This is my son in his room - he would probably love to move to a "big boy" bed, but I like to keep him contained! My husband created the art work of the dalmations above the crib.

This dad loves "Old Man and the Sea" and someday, maybe he and his daughter can discuss the classics together. At her age now, though, it is a one-sided conversation, held in an old chair in their library.

This shot shows some of the colors in this home, green on the walls, deep orange on the table. And of course, a beautiful baby front & center!

I hope these images inspire you to take photos of your kids in some of your special places at home!
